  2. I remember the abortion that was PMW - in the mid-90's it claimed to be
able to generate code from your diagrams.

Galileo went through a 6 month project to put all their
data-dictionaries into it, define all their code-flows, and generate a
simple project. Then pressed the button to generate some simple C code.

Which wouldn't even compile. So they spent another 3 months trying to
work out why before junking it.

well, that was the problem, then. they should have generated executable code
    instead of source.

Visio was the reason I stopped using my trusty Solaris workstation and
    started using Win2K instead.

I still like big rolls of paper and post-its though.

our meeting rooms now all have white-frosted glass walls that are
"marker friendly". It's still a pain in the tits to have to transcribe
it to paper and then to Visio after a brain storming session. I do
like Visio, but as mentioned in my other post, Mega does so much more,
and is much more collaboration focussed.

You are aware, I trust, that you can get A1-sized Post-It flipchart pads
that you can peel off and stick on the walls? Not cheap, mind.

If I'm going to whiteboard type meetings I sometimes stick a 6 megapixel
camera in my laptop bag to cover that. Piss easy to mail a zipfile of
    jpegs out afterwards.

Camera phones aren't allowed on some of the sites I work at but that
never puts me off. If they're really moody I have the phone on silent
and then **** off outside to make calls.

I never bother when I'm working on the nuclear subs, you can get
enough information about them off the internet to make espionage near
    enough pointless.
