    I watched QT last night.

There was a moment when the camera was on Dimbleby, he pointed to the
audience and said, "the man with grey hair." My companion was looking at me
very oddly as I giggled like a girl. Wasn't *him* though.

I didn't see it, unfortunately, as apparently Kelvin McKenzie was on
    form.

  3. I didn't. I could have cos I have got a telebox license and everything
now so it would be legal and stuff. Well I haven't, not exactly anyway,
the license is in the name of My Baby and not me but that means the
house is licensed and I could have watched it if I had wanted. I did
actually think about turning the box on at one point in the evening
which when I think back about it was about at the time when QT is
broadcast but I thought "****'em, it'll only be shite and all I will do
is moan about it" so I didn't and spent the evening browsing and
ukrming and listening to R4 instead like I do most evenings. In some
ways I was quite pleased with myself at the time.

In retrospect it seems I was right then.

Well, if you mean smug, obnoxious twat with a limited grasp of the facts,
then yes, he was on form. His critique of Gordon Brown included invoking
Scottish sterotypes. He espoused the Murdoch line on the EU treaty, which
was quietly denounced by Simon Hughes and Chuka Umunna as grossly
    misrepresenting the facts.

Some of the responses to KM's comments about the Scottish:

Well I'm a Scot and a business person. What he said was approximately
    correct of the lowland population.

Oh, and the people living in Scotland are not a "Race" so it's wasn't
    racism.

He wouldn't be welcome on here with that attitude. Not ONCE did he call them
    by their true name.

He espoused the Murdoch line on the EU treaty, which
Ex Sun editor in misrepresenting the facts shocker.

I figured he wouldn't have scored a ticket as the 'middle aged white
guy' demographic was amply represented to meet a quota.

  9. This means genocide is off the itinerary then?

That is another Final Solution to The Lothian Question consigned to the
    bin then.

  10. I watched it as well - I wondered how many times Stephen had to
restrain himself from beating Vegas to death with a chair[1].

    Phil.

[1] Which is a perfectly normal reaction to him from my perspective.
He's made a career out of being a clueless, unfunny slob. Maybe it was
amusing for the first episode or two but not for life..

    playing a character who's
Phil and I in cultural disagreement non-shocker.

I don't want to believe that Johnny Vegas is as completely fucking
thick as he comes across, it's got to be an act. Either way he can be
    painful to watch.

  13. This is true. How well it maps onto his real life I have no way of
    knowing.
You are the anti-me. For which I suspect we are both profoundly
    grateful.

When I've been on the outside of a few Imperial pints of whatever the
local's flogging off cheap this week, he's hilarious. Otherwise he's
like sugar-free mints - small doses only, otherwise there will be shit
    in large quantities.

I find his act hugely entertaining, and QI was no exception. For me, part
of the comedy *is* the accent, it just seems to help.

Also, his part in Bleak House shows that he can act serious in all.
Can't stand his stuff. Reminds me of Jo Bland.
