It's a sort of "domestic ISP" really isn't it - interesting idea - no idea how it's done mind -- jeremy '01 Triumph Sprint ST in green _______________________________________ jeremy0505 at gmail.com
Does your ISP offer a dial-up backup connection as well? You could get her to use that instead if you give her the username and password.
I want to be able to take a dial up connection(inbound to my PC) and reroute the request over my ADSL connection[1]. Has anyone done this under Linux that could give me a few pointers? [1] Giving my elderly mum a PC and to get her on the net as cheaply as possible as she gets free local calls so her PC can dial me at home and I route the request over my connection. TIA

I already worked out it would be 28K tops but as it would be free and all she would use would be basic email and a small amount of browsing it will be fine for her. If she wants to get involved with Skype etc I'll get her to switch to BB.
Just doing the same thing I got her a PC from the local tip - a 400 meg HP with win2k already installed (although reinstalled now) three quid it cost me, was I ripped off ?
Much the same as "windows" and any one of: secure stable efficient reliable enterprise solution server easy support virus reboot upgrade professional is a cue for <fx: grams: audience laughter> Soy.
Whatever makes you happy. I just meant that the howtos aren't straightforward and could do with a little more orientation to someone who's unfamiliar with the inner workings of whatever program they refer to. I wasn't slighting Linux as it has its suitable places. Your over-reactive (and somewhat unnecessary) defense doesn't help the holy war you know.
As is your concept of a signature. I mean, what the **** is going on? You appear to have a functioning separator, but insist on inserting your nick above the dashes. Sort it aaaht, eh?
