And ditto for my two. They've eaten pate de foie gras on a few
    occasions but not that many.

So that's a sample of four who would have been happy with that menu.

TBH, I don't think it's a very representative sample of the average
British child. I hope I'm wrong but I think Ace may have a point.

I don't know whether it's representative or not. Most, if not all, of my
nieces and nephews would eat it as would (I think) any of my childrens'
friends that I've met. Hmm, with the natural exception of a couple of
    veggies.

Ace may have a point but it's not one I've any experience of. Given Ace
lives in France/wherever I'd also question what experience he has of it.

Make it a sample of 5 then because mine would eat anything[1].

When I think of my friends' and family's children it's not too bad but
what leads me to believe we're not representative is the two years my
wife ran (and I lived in) a girls' (11-17) boarding house.

If it wasn't meat and two veg or a chicken nugget derivative they weren't
    interested, despite our best efforts.

It has to be said the usual mainstream 'Kidz Menuz' are pretty limp.

You lived in a girls' boarding house? Blimey.
    Starve 'em.
As are the ones in mainstream (cheap) French restaurants.

I'd much rather have you as a cousin. You don't trapse around shopping
centres for 3 days looking for designer clothes on sale. 10 minutes down
at Matalan and you've shopped for 3 years :)

Or, as experimented with this lunchtime ...

Fried pancetta cubes, sliced mushroom and shredded cabbage, on
fettucini, with the smoked salmon and a nob of butter stirred in at
    the end.

I was rather impressed with the result, tbh.

Oddly enough, I have quite a lot of experience of British kids, and
although I know of a few, like most of my nieces and nephews, who
would have been exposed to exotic foods from an early age, I'd venture
to suggest that the vast majority of Britich children wouldn't have
even heard of half the things that the French would eat.

You may well be right, although there's few things I see on French menus
and in French supermarkets that look *that* exotic. However I don't
know whether British kids would or wouldn't eat foie gras.

I have and I have eaten meat paste that makes no pretensions about

    Oh and expensive.

I think the difference between your palette and mine is that mine can't
read so is not in the slightest bit impressed but spin.

You're probably thinking of "Pate de Foie Gras", not straight Foie Gras.
I think that however uneducated your palette, you'd be able to tell the
difference between plain Foie Gras and Pate de Foie Gras. Even Champ
    could do it.

You're thinking pate de fois gras, which is is not quite the same thing
as foie gras. In the same way steak isn't the same as beef spread.
