OT Stupid Theives

Last night on IRC I was telling folk about how my young bloke's band got
ripped on Sat Night off when someone broke into a recording studio and
nicked the gear they had left there in the middle of a two-day recording
session. Among other things there was a rare vintage Maton hollow body
electric guitar, a 70's synth, Fender Bass and amp, various effects
pedals and a collection of high-tech microphones belonging to the studio.

This morning, the studio manager found one of the microphones in the
local cash converters..... The theif hadn't realised how unusual it
was, and had used his real ID. As far as we know, the cops have
recovered all the gear.

police with their enquiries"!

We had a similar situation at the jewellery shop I did my apprenticeship in. A group of thugs broke into my boss' house, tied up the
wife and bashed her in the face with the butt of a rifle, then drove my boss to the shop where they got him to open up the shop and
safes.

A month or so later, a guy wandered into the store asking for valuations on a few items of jewellery. Items that were one-offs and
were instantly recognised by the lass at the counter, who kept the guy busy while the boss called the cops.

Turned out he was one of the crims, and didn't think first before returning to the scene of the crime with hot merchandise.

A workmate had a break in at his house. Among the items taken were concert
tickets. The police were waiting at the venue and nabbed the thieves younger
brother as he took his seat, who then told them everything they wanted to

Interesting. Any tips for outing the stupid who helped themselves to a
Patrol radiator? Yep, I had my MQ Patrol radiator stolen. Curious thing
is, as one of the handful of MQ owners in Newcastle, I'm probably the
one that will be using it to fix a friend's Patrol, if it were to show
up again.
