    Whilst a cat may be happy to supervise you fiddling around under the
    desk with your PC, it will not appreciate being used to discharge
    excess static.

    Neither do dogs, but they spend a few minutes looking at you with a wary aye
    and a low tail. Then they come back for more.

    gave one of my rats a static shock on his tail other week, he jumped about 2
    feet in the air, and wouldent go near me all evening,

    Thought he'd have been used to it as the bloody thing had chewed through a
    mains cable a few weeks before that, and got to the live and earth
    conductors before he got the tingle and the RCD shut the current off.
