Probably the same reason I failed to spend any money on Sunday as all
the fucking shops were shut; the recession's a media invention. We need
Dubbya back to give them something else to report on.

  3. One of:

A significant proportion of people who would normally go abroad are
staying in the UK this year.

Places only want to book whole weeks.

Correct, and as it's my Pearl wedding anniversary today her indoors was
not best pleased I had nothing to offer this morning.

IWHT you'd had sufficient notice to arrange something, personally.

Where is "Every bloody where i try" exactly?

If you know where you want to go, I'm sure expedia, easyjet,
tripadvisor etc., etc. can come up with something. Then it's just a
    matter of budget, really.

I have tried everywhere i can think of on the web, and had a girl
in a Thomas Cook shop looking for me as well.

budget is not really a problem, I just want it hot, good food
and say within 6 hours of here.

  13. Well quite. It doesn't take much effort to remember one of the more
significant of the events in your life..

You should see the doctor about that. It's easily treatable these days.

    You'd have thought, eh?

But it's not just a case of remembering the date; like birthdays and
other recurring events it's about remembering to remember, which isn't
    the same thing at all.

We _nearly_ forgot ours this year, and it's about as easy a date to
remember as you could find, April 1st. But we were both really busy.
And it was only about a week later that I finally proved that it was
    13 years, not 14, as J had been insisting ;-}
