OT There is a recession on, yeah right!

  1. No joke, it wasn't *in* the Bay, but only a short walk away !

We were already booked for 14 nights AI 4* in the Bay for £475.
Not been a bomb there for years..................

Naama Bay is the place to go, it's next door to Sharm.

OK it is Blackpool on the Sinai.

But I have been there several times B&B, so I know all the good
restaurants and the ones to avoid. What bars you can get two for the
price of one up to 21:00 etc.

Plus the best dive outfits to use.

Short tale of eating at The Dananeer at the end of
King of Bahrain St. His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa AL Khalifa.
(Otherwise known as the main drag)

An excellent place for sea food and steak.

J and I sat at a table for two at Dananeer and looked at the menu.
We were B&B and had eaten there several times before.

Waiter comes over and asks if we would like to see the specials card.
    Stuff caught that day etc.

Looking at the list we both chose Sea Bass caught that afternoon.

The waiter looked perplexed. Looked around and went to another table for
four with only two people at it. He moved them to our table and we moved
to theirs. "Your table wasn't big enough", he explained.

When the Sea Bass arrived it was wrapped in ally foil and was knocking
on 2 feet long in it's wrapper.

    It was absolutely superb.

Any info on eating or drinking or diving in the area freely given.

Sharm, Hurgharda and the generally the Egyptian red sea resorts if
stuck on shore would pale pretty soon IMO. There's still loads of life
to see just snorkeling, it's just on land it really is grim.

  4. Not that I've ever left the coast for years but I'm told you can go on
wonderful excursions into the desert and see *sand*.

Some friends who went on a night time thing to watch the stars and
planets plus a meal in an old tented village said it was good.

Another friend (biker) said it was fun on the quad bike trip but kept
getting told off trying to do wheelies and pointing out the dead camels
and locals having a crap by the road side.

All the inland trips are twice as expensive if you deal with your travel
rep than if you deal with the local who organises it. But that's how
they make their money, their wages are total sh*t in Egypt.

    But the diving is *good*.

    Boots had it right.

If you are not into just laying in the sun or diving/snorkeling there is
bugger all else to do in my opinion.

Again as Boots said just snorlkeling opens up a different world to the
    uninitiated.

Snorkeling in the Red Sea changed my wife from some one who wouldn't put
her face in the water and could only swim a width to some one who was
determined to get a diving ticket and dive with me next trip to some
    where tropical.

When god design tropical fish, He was on Acid. Really!

This was the first fish my wife saw when she put he head into the water
    at Naama Bay:

There is some weird and wonderful stuff. The parrot fish is far from
    the most weird.
