The worst ones are where somebody posts some complete bollocks and
then, in the same post, not even the morning after, makes an excuse for
it with a reference to what they've been drinking that evening.

    It makes me very stabby.
Bombardier, 6X and a San Miguel to wash down a cheeseburger with sour
cream and chilli jam, since you asked.

    So you should.

You're going to the wrong pubs, obviously. As you live in London, you
need to use the World's Most Useful Website, http://www.fancyapint.com

Also, if you're around, try popping along to the Twickenham Beer
    Festival on the 23rd/25th Oct.

Bollocks, McCain has quite a lot of life and business experience, Obama
would flounder like a fish out of water, he just doesn't have the
experience to deal with the current set of challenges. IMHO.
*However*, and it's really the prime question, which one of them will
have the most competent administration and most skilled experts around
them. I do not think either side has furnished the electorate or the
world with that information and I found it frustrating that neither
candidate moved the debate on into this.

If I was McCain I'd be hoping to loose, but only by a tiny margin. The
world is in for 3-5 years of turmoil. The Democrats will raise tax to
reduce national debt. They will take on from the idea of Federal
intervention. The immigrant and healthcare situations will get worse.
And at the end of it the Republicans will be able to point and say SEE
it was the (half) Nigger and his Democrats wot did it. The US
electorate (and their goldfish like memories) will have forgotten Bush1,
Clinton and Bush2 and their "unfettered market" principals were to
    blame.

I have a sneaky suspicion that McCain/Palin might win though. She is
picking up a lot of the people who would have voted Hilary just to have
a woman in the Whitehouse. She is picking up the religious
conservatives. McCain is in the middle ground of Republicanism and with
his wartime history will get the left, centre and right of his core vote
    out to the ballot boxes.

You won't get a lot of blacks voting for McCain but Obama is a little
too white and successful for some of them so there might be some of
    spoiled/non voting.

So it falls to two things.
Why are the polls showing Obama in the lead. Well I think a lot of white
voters are paying him lip service but when it comes to the day will not
vote for a black man no matter how pale he is.
And the Hispanic vote, soon to be the largest voting block. Generally
considered Democrat but also very Catholic and very anti abortion, they
hold some quite Conservative views, and they don't like Negros.

I wouldn't bet my house on either side!

Your approach is only ever going to work if you live pretty much next
    door to a decent pub.

Maybe it's just me, but I do enjoy seeking out different pubs,
different beers and if I'm in London I can check out what pubs are
around that look decent beforehand, rather than making it a hit and
    miss affair.

Plus, I enjoy the planning. YMOV.
    Post corrected.
Your original post implied (to me) that you *do* go to pubs but
couldn't find any decent ale and so were more likely to drink lager or
    wine.
Still, it's no great shakes. I'll still be out enjoying a decent pint
of Cornish Old Scrotum while you're furiously jacking off over Jilly
Goolden who will on TV be "getting citrus, tar and a hint of deep fried
    strawberry mousse")

Isn't he though! he is just too fucking old. Obama just doesn't have
what it takes or anything like the experience. They are fucked.

Just for sheer badness I want to see McCain win then die from a heart
attack leaving Palin with 3.5 years in office. I just *have* to see it
    ;o)

sorry I have a mental switch that keeps substituting that for Command. I
    meant Command Experience.

Neither of them will do good IMHO, well not for the home voters.

Heh. I love watching UKRM when it tries to do anything like politics,
philosophy, ethics. Anything more complicated than putting round bits
of plastic into square holes, in other words.

    It's a hoot.

So, what would you be prepared to bet? A small some of money? Some
form of embarrassing forfeit? I'm match whatever you put up - my bet
    is for Obama winning.
