i have just torched my m/board while doing a bios upgrade
it offered me an out saying bin 1394 (or something was incompatible with the
previous version ) it was the firewire connection i will never use firewire
so i thought stuff it and said ok
a screen came up and said "do not turn off machine while this screen is
    here"
    7 1/2hrs later i turned it off
i have done many bios upgrades, all with complete success

You need is a bios chip form another motherbord the same.
Take out the bios and put it in your machine start up your machine then
remove the bios and replacewith your your bios.(do not switch off the pc)
Then flash your bios with the correct software.

  4. Might be able to contact a supplier of whatever brand it is and get a
replacement BIOS flash chip sent to you with the correct preloaded BIOS
    version for your board.

    Hi!
Just head over to this link.
    http://www.ozflash.com.au/
I did the same to my bios and they fixed it quite quickly.
    Regards,
    Don.

  7. Ditto. Been there - done that. Either replace the bios chip or throw the
motherboard. I threw the motherboard, but it was a damned sight older
than three moths; several caterpillars, in fact.

My motherboard has a fallback for when bios flashing goes wrong, if it
starts to boot and detects a bad bios it reads the floppy for a bios
flash image called amiboot.bin and flashes itself with that,
    maybe yours has something similar?

What brand and model is your motherboard, I toasted mine aswell but was able
to get it back, usually you can copy the correct bios on a floppy and hold
down some keys to load the correct bios from the floppy. Give us your model
number and I'll find out if you can do it.
