OK my gennie has a blue output socket

I want to put a blue plug on the end of a long four gang extention lead.

from the BACK/INSIDE of the plug I have 3 round pin backs

    O
    o o

I take it the bigger top one is earth

Which way round are the other 2 pins.

Please remember this is from the back of the plug, where I connect the 4
    gang wires to.

    Thanks

    If this is a single-phase 16A commando plug we're talking about, I
*think* it's live to the left, neutral to the right, but is it not
    marked on the housing somewhere?

No idea what a 'commando plug' is unless its a youffanissum for a tampon
    without a string.

Just says 16Amp Trailing plug on the wrapper.

It's to fit a 2.8KVA gennie in the garage so I can have the drill and lights
    etc working.

  5. This is the answer, it's exactly the same layout as yer humble 13A plug,
looking at it from the back of the plug.

    Big Pin (Earth)

LH small pin (neutral) RH small pin (live)

  6. Often marked, indeed, should be marked, but some aren't.

Out of interest, why is there an earth, the gennie isn't earthed to ground,
maybe a ground pin and strap to the frame would be a good idea ?

  10. I'll have a Guinness, thanks. You'll have to drink it for me, though.
Let me know what it tasted like.

Why not look at the back of the PLUG and reverse that in the rear of the
    socket?

I've drunk draught Guinness since I was 18 and to be honest I'm bored of
the stuff. Yes, I've had it in Ireland and it tasted much the same as it
does here. Certainly no reason to get excited.

Pretty much guaranteed it would be well kept would be the only
significant difference I'd comment on. So, IMO the whole "nothing like
the Irish" is a load of old toss.

However, I really like Guinness original and I've been on that for over
twenty years too. I'm not the only one either:

The widget draught in cans is a waste of time, mind.

Precisely. They closed the brewery in Park Royal years ago and the stuff
they sell here now *is* the Irish.
