I'm doing it cold turkey again. Once I get past 3 days I've cracked it
and it's only my own stupidity (usually coupled with alcohol) that
    starts me off again.

It's been 17 hours so far. I've slept for 10 of them. Since I've got
up I've munched on crisps, made soup, made croutons to go in the soup,
eaten the soup, done housework, eaten blueberries and grapes, got
bored of blueberries and grapes, demolished most of a bar of green and
blacks, chewed my nails and failed to find anything on TV to watch.

I've only made it this far because there are no teenagers around to
    annoy me.

I'm close to cracking and going to the shop. What's going to get me
through the next couple of days?

I don't need to go anywhere. Plus earlier when I was sorting the
kitchen I put the last of the tonic in the firdge. I'm out of lime
but there's still lemon. I have ice.

    Game on.

    <takes bottle out of freezer>

I can't see the sun for the clouds, I don't have a yard arm so...

Not really well enough, the 10 hours sleep was due to being shattered
after riding back from Bath yesterday.
    Not intrinsically.

Wouldn't it be easier to stop when working rather than off ? All that
    spare time to fill ...

I wish I could help, but I can't. IYR I gave up relatively painlessly
by adopting completely the opposite approach to yours! But I wish you
    luck anyway.

    Strange definition of 'cracked it'?
    Dunno, but good luck.

Start making a list of all the wonderful foods that you'll very soon be
able to taste. Start cooking some of them?
Clean everything around you that smells of smoke.
    Enjoy you new sense?

I'm not a smoker, nor have I ever been, but I nagged the guy who works
next to me to give up and he said thankyou once :eek:P

Nothing, just accept that you're weak and only kidding yourself that
    you can quit.

Then I can laugh at you.

  12. What 'e said. A 70cl bottle coupled with 2 litres of Indian tonic is the
best compromise between flavour and strength. A whole lemon, sliced and a
couple of large handfuls of ice. Bitters extra.

I've been told tit's best to stop at least a week before the op. I've
had to stop taking echinacea and garlic capsules as well.

I gave up smoking once, cold turkey. Been a non smoker for about 10
years now. If you can tell the craving to piss off every time it comes
    along, you'll be fine.

  16. That you wanted one.
Pathetic and crap excuse. You wanted one, plain and simple. Anything else is
    just a load of shit.

    No, I haven't been drinking, that's the problem ;-)

You say that like it's some sort of huge problem - if he wants to have
the odd ciggie now and again, why shouldn't he?
