Interesting. When I found a good reason to not smoke, it made it easier.
    Still was willpower IMHO.

When i was first smoking I could do that. Stopped for both pregnancies
with no trouble and only had an occasional one after that. It's only
been the last 4 years that I've been a 20 a day smoker.

Not One Puff Even (N.O.P.E) can you tell I've been reading American
    web sites.

I'm not sure what the difference between not feeling like and
conciously deciding to use will power is. Nor where my ability to
    construct sentences has gone.
Yes. I wouldn't have stopped now without a specific goal.
I'm using 'concious effort' and occasional bouts of jumping up and
down going 'I'd really like a cigarette but I'm not going to have
    one'.

Midnight tonight is first week, then it gets easier.

The oddest thing is that when I stopped for those 6 months, I never craved a
fag or even thought about one, but after I smoked that dimp, I was fucked
    when I tried gain.

What, like some kind of magic? I'd have thought it depends on the
individual. I know some ex smokers who still feel like they need a fag and
most have been ex smokers for years.

Not bollocks at all. When you don't want a fag, it requires no will power at
all to not have one, but when you DO want one, will power alone may not be
enough to stop you sparking up.

    I'm afraid I must agree here. I couldn't have stopped if I didn't
want to- I had a real motivation to stop (health kick).
I've managed to avoid lapsing but don't go out drinking often. Well
    not with smokers anyway.

I've stopped to give my lungs a break for the general anaesthetic.

I'd really, really like a mug of coffee.

    See you all later.

The only upside to this week has been a change in the weather today, so I'm
