When I need to find lost and otherwise ill passengers a quick call to
the British Consulate or British Embassy (depending on which is
nearer) is always a good starting point.

You're basically reporting a missing person to them. "Hello, brother
and chum involved in motorcycle accident, haven't heard from them for
days, cannot contact them..." The British authorities will ask for a
few details (like the bike registration plate) and the general area
the phone call was from and should sort out the police from there.

If they're off and touring again (which from the experience of having
a plate in my ankle seems somewhat unlikely) then they might just get
tugged by the police on patrol having identified their plates.

It's likely that the natives will have contacted the British insurance
company too if the bike is in any way farked. If it looks like a
write off they'll want to charge them inport tax on it.

Or, depending on country, the local authorities may do nothing.

In which case: Do you know which company they've used for their
travel insurance? Spain has one of the most expensive healthcare
systems on the planet apart from America so it would have been wise to
take out cover. If they have taken out insurance then their Emergency
Medical Assistance company will be aware of them if any surgery was
needed. I would fully expect for the EMA company to have sent a
    representative over there too.

If you don't know who they're insured with and you have a key to their
door then a quick visit to nick their credit card and bank statements
could be in order. By reading through the more recent of these if
they've taken out a single trip or annual travel policy you'll know
which company they bought it from. Yes, they will shout DATA
PROTECTION ACT at you but it wouldn't be unreasonable for them to send
a message through to their clients asking for a call home even if they
will be unable to tell you the outcome.

One other positive thing about reading through their recent bank
statements is you'll be able to see *where* they're buying things. For
example "€30 Petrol - Shell West Leganés" or "€100 CASH Deutsche Bank
    - Málaga del Fresno" gives the impression of moving around (the amount
of money spent at petrol stations being an indication of which type of
vehicle they're using) but you could also see far more useful things,
like "€13 Shoppe - Such and Such Hospital." This is dependent on you
living near to either of them. Or you could l33t h4xx0r their online
    banking?

If they're going on an Advanced Walking holiday it's wise to tell us
that they have no legs and live in a wheelchair. If they're going on
an Art Appreciation holiday then it's good if they're not completely
blind. If they're going on a Car Confidense themed holiday then it's
best if they weren't banned from driving last year due to a drink
    driving.

However, these things have escaped some of my clients over the years.

  10. You really do have rose-tinted glasses when it comes to fascist
powers.. First your unalloyed admiration of the US and now your idea
that the BE was some sort of benevolent uncle that looked after all
it's little children with loving care..

A good proportion of the problem in the Middle East stem almost
directly from decisions made by the ex-British Empire. As do a goodly
number of the problems in Africa.
As to what happened to various parts of India during their forced
inclusion in the British Empire - it wasn't pretty and it wasn't
    humane.

Neither was the attempt to control China through the use of opium.

  11. Sounds good. My bloke here seems to have forgotten already. We just want
to know which hospital the lady is in. She was admitted last Tuesday, I
think. At least 2 Guardia turned up, so someone in the Jaén Cuartel will
know something. See if you can find out, there's a good man.

  12. Nought wrong with the bike. His woman saved it with her leg.
Really? My dental stuff wasn't expensive. I think the vasectomy was.

The spaniards are currently moaning about all the brit expats getting
free healthcare here. I think they don't know about the reciprocal
    agreement.

BTW you are judging the actions of yesteryear as wrong by applying the
