  1. As ling as your legs reach the ground, but don't go through it, you
    are exactly the right height.

I'm sure. The whole "paying other companies to take your business"[1]
thing was an eye-opener to me at the time.

Not so much Adam Smith's "Invisible Hand" as a "Threatened Invisible
    Kick to the Nuts".

[1] we euphemistically used the term "deferred rebates"[2] at the
time, but it did effectively result in wads of cash in brown bags
being handed over with a nudge and a wink.
[2] I did the required systems analysis and some speccing out for the
software module that "accounted" for this[3]
[3] as in "not accounted for but trackable".

no - it's up to the teller to decide whether the transaction is
genuine - subsequently the bank has no comeback (they don't tag the
    notes with transaction details anyway).
not sure on this one. I've 1/2 an idea that direct transfers can be
reversed though (certainly when I contracted at BACS back in 2002,
both Direct Debits and Direct Credits were potentially two-way
transactions, but I don't know what the rules are now, and don't know
anything much about the rules for online banking transactions).

Once when my FiL was looking at buying an apartment, we went to the estate
agents to pay the deposit and he whacks out €9000 in €500 notes. FFS.

pronounce or spell, but sounds like 'KKJLLLLLUUKJJ'

Most polite man i have ever met to be fair.

  8. Company I worked for entertained a couple of Nigerian gentlemen, who had
a Govt order for a million quid's worth of gear in their back pocket. MD
of our Co wouldn't entertain the normal method of doing business in that
part of the world and told them to **** off. Perhaps he suspected a
scam, but as it turned out...
A few weeks later A.N.Other Co up the road announced a large Nigerian
order - worth a million quid. All they did was put the kickback on the
    cost and bill it.
Company I was in closed its doors not too much later.
