With that level of range:- Made in Germany, instead of Made in China - you
pays your money, takes your choice.

I'd buy the one made in China.

Unless you spend the big bucks, they by and large are.
Screwfix have some cheap SDS corded drills. I have one, it works.

Check out the price of drill bits for SDS drills, the costs can be
significant. One of the Screwfix drills comes with some bits (don't know
    what the quality's like).

There's a guy on Ebay flogs cheap-ish SDS to drill chuck adaptors.

  4. Hoyuss - that's the model I bought nearly 4 years ago. It's had severe
use and still going strong. I only bought it as a stopgap but it's
surprised me how good it is for a green one.

I bought it after I'd been in the house for about six months and
having failed to fins an effective way of drilling into walls. Clearly
this had been a problem for the previous owner too, as all the
fittings in the garage, for example, were only screwed in to about an
inch deep, with longer screws and rawlplugs having been cut off to the
length to which he was able to drill.

I went for this model as I knew I'd be stripping tiles in the near
future and it seemed like it might be useful. It was, but much more
use was made of it than imagined when I discovered that the bath I was
wanting to replace had been embedded in about a tonne of concrete.

I cannot imagine why anyone would do that - it was a heavy enamel bath
with a normal cradle and feet, which to my mind would have needed
nothing more that a couple of brackets to stop it shifting away from
the wall, but no, each of the feet was encased in a pyramid of
concrete about 20cm high, then the cradle itself was 'glued' to the
bath with another 10cm layer all round.

Anyhow, the static hammer setting, with an appropriate chisel bit,
turned what would have been a right PITA into something of a
    demolition-fest. Fun, it was :)

Well, I've just bought a cheapy 1KW SDS corded hammer-drill for less
than £30 from Homebase, to replace the B&D drill I broke over the
weekend. The only bad thing I've found so far is that it's
single-speed - I'd just assumed that all tools nowadays have variable
    speed controllers.

It comes with 13mm chuck adapter and a variety of SDS bits, chisels
    etc.
