I'd expect a good 16 hours hard labour before paying for a meal there.
I was thinking more along the lines of the Indian in Purton.

Good, it'd make my commute a bit quicker if Cricklade was wiped off the
    map.

  6. Ooh.. what's it like? Ever since I started cooking Indian stuff I've
    been disappointed by Indian Restaurants.

  7. As well as making the hurried-dash-to-post-office-in-Purton-from-work
    quicker[1].

That way I wouldn't have to slow down below 60..

    Phil.

[1] Bought some stuff from play.com, was out when it got delivered and
the Post Office Parcels people put through a card saying it was being
held at Purton PO. Turns out that it was held (as I was expecting) at
West Swindon. "Oh yes" says bloke in PO office - "the driver had a
batch of cards that said Purton. Sorry".
I'll send the bill for the psycological harm for all the people I
overtook in the cage to the PO.

Prepare to continue to be disappointed - it's the usual mediocre
affair. The best I've found around Swindon is the one by the Chinese
Experience. For takeaways, the one in Wroughton's very good.

There's a lot to be said for cooking up a big pot of curry or chilli at home
and breaking out the beers. Cheaper, too.

  10. Ah the "we only have one sauce but we put different food colouring in"
    line.
Curry Cottage (no feedlines thankyouverymuch) in Swindon is probably
the best of the bunch in Swindon.

  11. Oh I do - although in my case it's 'breaking out the red wine[1]'.
    Cooking proper[2] Indian food rocks.

    Phil.

    [1] Purely medicinal guv. Honesht.
[2] For 'done from a receipe book written by someone with an Indian
    name' value of proper.

There was an entire bottle of red involved in the chilli at last December's
    platyfest.

  14. Not yet. But it looks interesting..

The books I have are got from Waterstones! And one by Keith Floyd.. And
in all-but-one they go through the 'this is a coriander seed' type
    stuff.
The one that doesn't is called "1000 Classic Curry recipes" (although
it does have other info) and is thoroughly recommended. I've done some
    *very* nice curries from it.
