    Quality marshalling:

(Shame about the irritating septic behind the camera)

It certainly looked well iffy. At the TT they drum into you "don't, no
matter the circumstances, enter the course until you're cleared to, and
that won't be until there are waved yellows out".

And I would certainly have expected Race Control to have had reds out as
soon as the marshals got collected.

Septic[1] marshalling does seem poor on occasions. Anyone remember how
long it took them to get to Ralf Schumacher after his big one in the
    Grand Prix a while back?

[1] This was in Septicistan, right?

IIRC, the dickhead Yank was right - the marshal did die in the accident.

    The Older Gentleman says...
I watched a friend die at Santa Pod back in '84 when the vacuum created
by his his Jet-car engine pulled him into the engine compartment[1]
    through the sidemounted bulkhead.

Some morbid **** close to us was getting all shouty excited about
getting it all on film and moving in closer to film the wreckage, until
another friend of ours grabbed the video camera[2] from his hands and
smashed it to pieces on the concrete before removing the tape and
handing it to the police who attended later.

[1] Allan Herridge, known as Bootsie. He'd built this car with the jet
engine sitting alongside the cockpit, but the vacuum created was quite a
lot stronger than anticipated and it pulled the bulkhead into the engine
    compartment and Bootsie with it.
[2] In 1984 video cameras cost an absolute fortune and were very rarely
    seen.
