    Qualifying: 9th 2:08.64
    Race 1: 8th 2:04.35
    Race 2: 6th 2:05.26

We were first out in qualifying, and it had rained overnight
so there were still some wet patches around, hence the relatively
    slow qually time.

By the time the first race came up it had been sunny almost all
day, so the track was nearly perfect. I got a blinding start but
was mugged as the "fast boys" disappeared from the off - I'm still
suffering from post-mallory-ejection stress and can't get my head
around going so fast so quickly. I was catching up on 7th place
but just didn't quite make it.

Second race was almost a repeat but got red flagged after 2 laps,
so we lined up again on the grid, so be told we were doing 7 laps
from the off. As our original race was only supposed to be 7 laps,
and we'd done one out lap and 2 race laps, I was worried about
having enough fuel as we run it quite tight. Luckily (or not)
the race was red flagged on the last lap and the results done on
a countback to the previous lap.

So a couple of good results which have put me back up to 7th in
    the championship.

Next is Castle Doom^H^H Combe on 28th & 29th July.

As in the Chinese curse sense?

Personal best for bike and hill today at Loton . Within 2 tenths of the
road legal R1 on the first timed run [1](who had already done four runs
yesterday in similar conditions unlike me BTW). Then it rained and I was
faster on a still slightly damp track than he was but to no avail
    points-wise.

[1] also within 3 tenths of my PB for this hill on any machine, so I may
not hang my boots up at the end of this season after all.

What's happened to the gixxer six, then?

Oh, and 'pahnd', as no-one else seems to have noticed.

Best of luck. Hope you've got back on your pace by then.

Heh. I think I'm getting old, that's the problem.
I was quite pleased with my pace but it's just
that there are so many good riders in the championship
that it really is a struggle to get into the top
ten if you're not riding at full commitment.

Funnily enough though, Ian "Cobby" Cobb was out with
the Class B bikes as a guest rider on Harriet's machine
as she is still out with her broken collarbone [1].
It shows that some people really are talented fuckers,
and not only is he one of the nicest blokes in the
world but by Christ he's quick as well. He was lapping
in 2:01s on a bike with no more than 53bhp, which would
have put him on the front row of our Class A grid.

We didn't hang around for the second Class B race as
it was delayed with the multiple pile-up in the Gixxer
class [2] but he stormed the first race and had a 14 sec
lead at the end, and I think he backed off after he had
    a big margin anyway.

[1] She showed me her "gash" [1a]. It was pink and smooth.
[1a] as she was calling her scar.
[2] Four bike smash and not enough ambulances, so they
called in the medi-copter which caused some excitement.
Jamie Wilkins, from Fast Bikes, was involved so I hope it
wasn't too serious as I was chatting to him earlier in
the day, reminiscing on our epic battle at Oulton last year.

I guess. But if the old one's not up to the job, shouldn't you just
    replace it?

Blimey. I didn't realise it was so friendly. I wanted to get along to
that one, with it being my most local track, but I'm still not up to
driving that far. The weather was pretty dodgy here for most of the
day, so I'm glad you got some good races.

"Wasted"? Not if the last Saab is anything to go by.

I used to know Cobby very well, but that must be 15ish (and more) years
ago now. He was a talented fucker then and it sounds like he's not
slowed down very much at all.

He said it was his first race in ten years, but it didn't
show. He even had to go to the ACU head quarters in Rugby
and sit the exam! He should have been given a novice licence,
and had to wear an orange bib, but given his form [1] he
successfully argued his case and ended up with a clubman
    licence!

[1] raced for 16 years (including BSB & World Endurance),
has won several national championships, and has been a
professional m/c instructor for 10 years. Currently works
as a test rider, and for track sense as a track day instructor,
    according to Track Sense.

I think you're missing the point.

I'm talking about the last Saab, the one with fish in.. It's worth
nothing 'til it's turned back into an insurance cheque... so right now
    it's a waste of money.

Unless you like big red Swedish fishtanks.

I remember him from Battle of The Twins and BSB stuff, but I first knew
him from before that on production 600s IIRC. I am friends with
Francis Williamson, who mainly raced the same series as Cobby, but is
now doing the KTM Super Duke Challenge.

Given that the two fastest guys in that class are
    both wearing orange bibs anyway...
