I hope it goes to court and the fuckers go down for it but I'd bet
they retire early on medical grounds.

  3. They seem to be very adapt at videoing police raids as a pr stunt , why not
video all police activity when dealing with the general public

Did I not read that all cops are going to be wearing tiny little cameras
on their chests, now? Or is that over here ?

  5. On the clip I saw of that this morning, at the very start I saw him
leaping up and down and acting as if he was taunting the cops. Then he
went to run away and tripped over his own feet.

He might have deserved all he got, the drunken ****.

Pinned down by three cops and punched a few times or the bit where
they rub his face backwards and forwards on the road?

Hopefully they'll be taken to court for assault if the IPCC decides
    they've been naughty.

If they don't take plod to court for pulverising an innocent man's head
in a punishment shooting, what makes you think they're going to do it
    just for a beating?

Get ready to hear 'not in the public interest'.

    Pathetic.

That was the most pathetic example of a *beating* I've seen in years.
That copper couldn't punch for toffee, he should be ashamed of himself.
They should also be ashamed that it took three sober policemen to take
    down one drunk squaddie.

You reckon the current incumbents plan that far ahead?

Looked like the cop on the left was punching the squaddie's left arm to try
    to free it for handcuffing.

    That's what he'll claim, anyhow.

I don't think tripping over your own feet warrants a kicking off plod.

The most telling part of that video, for me, was the animal that was
doing the punching stopping to look around to see if there were any
    witnesses.

It must the said that the original magistrates who convicted the
squaddie, having (apparently) seen the footage, are not fit to sit on
the bench. Which brings us back to a subject we discussed a week or two
    back.

The squaddie got convicted? That doesn't seem right.

Read the story. He was originally convicted of assaulting the police.

In a "He hit me in the fist with his eye" stylee, presumably.

Try that over here, and you'd be shot.

Given that the police are often directed to situations by the CCTV
operator I'm sure he's fully aware of it's presence. He's looking
round in case he's going to be attacked as his 'back up' is on the
    floor.

I see a drunk being tackled in the street and subdued by police
officers limited by the ridiculous H&S procedure they have to follow.

*That* was not being *beaten up*

But this, "I hope it goes to court and the fuckers go down for it" is
    hysteria.

You're right, but it's not reasonable force, is it? That's the problem.

    I agree.
I'm not sure it's *that* excessive. I thought (and ICBW) that the
police are trained to adminisiter blows[1] like that as a way of
disabling a perp, in a "dead leg" stylee[2]. Anyone else know of this
or have I just imagined it?

[1] I stop short of saying punch as I don't think that's right for what
    they're trained to do.
[2] And yes, I do realise that the blows here are nowhere near his legs.
