Overfilled with oil - what to do?

Did he run it with that much engine oil? If so - what was the outcome.

I once was considering aspirating a bit excess engine oil with my fork
oil adjustment setup (50cc syringe with attached flexible pastic tube)
but ended up draining it past a loosened drain plug. No need to drain
all and refill, as suggested elsewhere in the thread.

Well it was still running but I think the K engine is the only
motorcycle that could have done so in the circumstances. Any other would
probably have met a hydraulic lock on the downstroke and torn the piston
    from the conrod.
I had a large basin under the sump, knowing it was overfilled. As it
drained I spied several empty containers in the garage. "Where did that
oil go" I asked. "Into the engine" quoth Shane. We turned around to see
this large basin overflow and another 2 litres ran down his newly laid
    tarmac drive.

In turn Shane knows a shed load more about Silicon than I do ;o)

Can I just say at this point that I fucking hate sight glasses.

It's so much easier to check on a dip.

Who invented these abominations, and why.

    Cheers

    Paul.

What are you talking about? how easy can it get, or are you referring to
    bikes with no centrestand.

The latter. Hence why I lobbed it in by volume, not sight.

  6. They're a bit awkward on some bikes, I agree, but I've used them for
years and find no real probs.

I found the gixxer one just a little bit awkward the first time I
looked at it... last weekend at Chimay.

Hmmm - intersting "experiment". WHen you say running, was it just to see
if it would "run without enough oil", or had the bike been ridden with
usual engine power output? Any known side effects such as subsequent
oil leaks or increased oil consumption?

That field is a bloody menace, even my bike has had a little lie down
    in there ... ;)
