Walking down the wine aisle (on my way to the dog grub aisle) I overheard a
rather odd conversation. Now I don't drink, but I suspect wine is usually
chosen because of its taste, but apparently not.

"Should I get the blue one, or the red"?

Chummy was referring to the colour of the bottle not the contents (although
even that's possible I suppose). The red was 1.99 for 2 litres and the blue
was 1.98 for 2 litres, so the main criteria was probably price. I wouldn't
think either was top notch, but wtf do I know?

Philistine, do you know nothing of the great blue wine regions of Albania?
While they can be harsh gentlemen of the road everywhere acknowledge that,
pound for pound, nothing gets you as smashed.

Red wines, of course, take their colour from the skin of the grape, whereas
blue wines are blue for exactly the same reason that the stuff you use to
top up your windscreen wash is blue. In fact in blind tastings 3 out of 4
Harry Ramps can't tell fine blue table wine from Halfords screen wash.

Teach a man to fish and he and his pikey mates will have the
river cleaned out in a day.
