Overlap or centerline?

I want to replace my intake cam with another one. It has a different
duration and I don't know its optimum timing for my application. What is
more important, keep the same overlap or the same centerline?

Someone let Ziguy at loose on an internet
    connection and the result was:
depends on the overlap whether you want to keep the original
centerline...put it in, make sure nothing hits, establish maximum adjustment
limits, then dyno it and adjust to see what it does

    "Timberwoof
When I got my first body piercing in1993, I simply could no longer call
myself Woofcub. I wanted to change my name to "Timberwolf," but that had
already been taken, so I chose Timberwoof.
There's a guy running around on Yahoo who calls himself TimberWoof. He's not
    the real Timberwoof; I am"

    A bit unsettling, isn't it?

Why not talk to the folks who make the cam? They should be able to tell
you what their cam will do in your specific engine. If they can't give you
specific answers to your questions, go find another manufacturer who can.
Before you do anything else, I would decide what I want a new cam to do in
my engine, then let the manufacturers recommend one that does that. Until
you decide that, you can't decide answer your question about timing.

Awww, come on Clem, haven't you felt for years that your
graceful figure, serious demeanour and appetite for seaweed
    point to a deep-seated conviction that you're a Dugong?

-----sharks <--- oooh! obviously some kind of pervert!
(not a very furry kind, though)
