Crikey Marko, first the 80's bikes, now the adobe hut - is there
*anything* I like that you don't have a set on? ;-)

Amateurs. They put their bikes in the garage in April, don't see the light
    of day until November.

Mmmm? And what character traits would they be exactly?
Interests in Underdog Leathers? None whatsoever here. I don't even own any of his products.

And Joe has never been backwards in coming forward about his interests and involvement in the
    company.

    Bloody Hell Clem
I dunno what's gotten into you lately but the invective and spite in
    this sig is harsh.
Having met and ridden with joe and also with Milligoon I find them both
    decent people.
I can't believe you made such a value jugement without ever meeting the
    person.
As for Joe's products I haven't bought any of them but have seen them
and they are the real deal.
Would you say the Same thing about Dave Milligoon?
I have no vested interest in his organisation either yet will recommend
    his services as well.
    Cheers

Hasn't he? I thought he'd been sprung a few times using the newsgroup to
try to sell his products to newbies while pretending to be just offering
advice. (I'll have to check the archives when I get home.......)

    What a scream!
This from a bloke who replies to my every post.
Obviously "plonk" means "slavishly follow" in his language!

  9. I just did. Didn't have much luck...

....found a few threads in which people, either, at the time, newbies, or
fairly established ausmoteans, have asked directly about Underdog (hmmm,
maybe Joe put them up to it) and most of the
replies have been from people praising the product and needling Joe about
how he takes the inside leg measurement before he's himself replied.

It the thread "Dririder Jackets-Advice", of 2/4/2003, Corsairx asks about
    waterproof jackets and pants.

    Joe replies, and I quote:

    ----
    http://www.underdog-leathers.com/jackets.htm

theres a whole swag of leather and cordura (what you call dririder) jackets
    there.

and the prices arent too exxy on leather either.

    how do I know?

    its my company

    Regards

Hardly promoting under false pretences, is it?

Sorry, Clembo, but if you're gonna let off a broadside at someone, your
driver for it should begin with something a bit more authoritative than an
"I thought he'd..." and finish with something other than "I'll have to check
the archives when I get home"... smacks a bit of the way a certain recent
geopolitical travesty played out, doesn't it? One which you haven't been shy
    about condemning as such...

    I wouldn't've got involved with Joe's company if I didn't think him
personally to be all right, or if I thought his operation was an
    unscrupulous money grab.

  10. What of it? It's up to the individual to take resposibility for their own
choices. If they choose to accept a higher level of risk (in your opinion)
it's their decision and you have nothing to do with it. Leave 'em alone.

You are judging them by commenting in the first place.

  11. (looks down at hikers, and on to regular jeans)
(looks across at useless-in-a-crash tissue-thin 12-year-old dress leather
    jacket)
(looks over at backpack doing service as a back protector)

Guess that might make me my own harshest critic, then...

The squid comment was included as an alternative to the
Sunday-markets-sounding "Oh, by the way, I sell them." in the original post.
Where would've been the fun in saying that?

  13. Tempted to respond with "That would make it twenty minutes more than you
spent on it", but that wouldn't be too imaginative.

I'm pointing out, as, frankly, I customarily do, that gut feel and dim
impressions don't much of a cause for mounting an argument make.

I_did_have look through the archives, and I found bugger-all to support your
contention. Your being dismissive of that is as good an acceptance of having
been proven wrong as could be hoped for under the circumstances.

  16. FWIW, I vaguely recall what Clem's on about. I remember thinking at the
time a regular would easily recognise the connection but a newbie would
not. I can't be fucked googling for evidence. I'm not following any flock.
Everyone has, and should be entitled to, their own opinion.

Now, can we stop this childish fuckin' politician bullshit and have a fuckin'

I think I'll be OK going to Underdog.

I've spoken to Ed, and I'm going to head up and get measured up next time I have
    a weekend off {Saturday week, most likely}.

He/They don't chaage extra for custom fitting - I can live with that.

    What argument?
I said "I thought he'd been sprung a few times using the newsgroup to
try to sell his products to newbies while pretending to be just offering
advice." and I still think that.
You popping up twenty minutes later and saying that he's squeaky-clean
'cause you checked and if I don't believe you it's cause I'm a dirty rotten
lying liar is hardly enough to make me fall to my knees, hallelujah and
    convert to schlarperianity!

  20. So why not wait till you get home and check the archives before you make the
    accusation in the first place?

I'm just starting to think, having Allan Kirk on here really left you with
    some axes to grind, huh?
