Overtaking, police van chases...

Hi,

This is a weird one. Maybe some of the resident bobbies can shed some
insight.

Coming home, a police van is ahead of me, doing I estimate 60 in a 40,
so being driven quite sprightly. No blues. But, hey, maybe they are
stealthing for some reason.

Come into a dual lane bit of road (still a 40). Police van pulls
behind another car, which is going a bit slower, so I catch up. Police
van then moves into lane two, turning right at the upcoming roundabout.

I continue going straight on, and do a sprightly overtake of the other
car after the roundabout. This is naturally done within legal limits.

Next thing I know, I see blues in the mirror as the van has obviously
swung round the roundabout and followed me. It overtakes the same car
as me, turns OFF the blues, then must be doing a RAPID number of knots
to catch up with me (as I'm being law abiding!).

It follows me for another 30 seconds or so, before turning into another
road.

What's going on here? I'd have thougth if they were thinking something
suspect about me, they'd have tugged me at this point...

(Note: I was in the cage for this. It's interesting that if you
overtake sprightly on a bike, other drivers go "Oh, whatever". Do the
same in a car and it's "HOW DARE YOU OVERTAKE ME!!!!")

Nah, he's guilty. Guilty of posting to ukrm. He should be persecuted

Hmm, not sure I am convinced. If only due to the way they thundered up
to me (past one car, with blues), then just sat pretty close to my
bumper for the rest of the time. Maybe they were checking to see if I
was wearing a baseball cap.
