Radio 4's travel phone-in program, Traveller's Tree, has just read out an
    email from "Dilly Gaff"...

On an unrelated note, on Saturday I was following a blue Citroen C2 along
the A1, which had the registration ...

    "T1 UP A"

A young man driving, for the record.

Breaking the rather base theme, on Saturday I saw a Jag with the reg:
    XIIVVX.

I've seen a few new style French reg plates recently, if this is in the
    same vein?

There's not much to get. I just found the Roman numeral number amusing
as, presumably, did the owner of the Jag.

It's French and the word is "Bisous" meaning kiss.

    According to Babelfish: 'kisses'.

(SteveH) gurgled happily, sounding much like they

    Yep.

    It's the one between X10VVX and X12VVX

Sure? X11 VVX? All valid as far as DVLC is concerned and all valid
Roman numerals. Not sure if it makes a valid single number, though I
heard somewhere that the Romans didn't actually use the ordering
system that we're used to nowadays. Could be bollocks though.

Yes, but it's not valid in Roman Numeral terms.

It's the VVX bit that's the problem. VVX isn't a valid combination.

It's valid as a number plate, though.
