Oxford spare keys

  1. Hello u.r.m!

Being norwegian and all, english is obviously not my native language. I
do not know the correct term for the raw material locksmiths make copies
    of keys from.
    "Raw key"?

    Today's question:

I have an Oxford Omega disc lock which had 3 keys, IIRC. Anyway, I am
down to my last key and I do not like it... you can be sure that the
lock is on the bike *when* (not if) I loose the last one.

I have tried to find someone here in Oslo/Norway that are able to make a
couple of new spare keys for me, but without any luck so far. They all
think that they can until they realize that the Oxford key is about
0.5mm thinner then the ones from ABUS - which they indeed are able to
make copies of. None of them have the correct "raw key".

    ABUS:
    ( )
    ( )

    Oxford:
    ()
    ()

Do you know if locksmiths in UK able to make copies of Oxford keys?

  4. Oh yes, they are. I last used them about five years ago, but they are
the best I've ever come across.

  5. In uk.rec.motorcycles, The Older Gentleman belched forth and ejected the
    following:
Indeed they are. I used them when I lost the keys to one of my despatch
bikes. He opened the petrol cap flap, had a look down the key hole with
one of those things that looks like the doctor pokes in your ear with a
light on, went away and five minutes later had two working keys!

I was impressed and amazed in equal measure. Only cost around 6 quid,
    too, IIRC.

  8. Thanks!

    But...
I called them just now and they could not help me either. The problem
is exactly the same as here in Norway: they do not have
the blanks. (<- Look! I Learned a new word today! c¨,)

Stupid me: I notized just now that Oxford has something called
"Replacement Key Service". I will send them an email and check it out.
