OY as hell: Voices out of time

  1. I know I've bored on before about the fact that my great grandfather was a
music hall artiste of some note. Anyhow, I've been given a very old
recording of one of his acts. Listening to it now, and it's a very strange
feeling indeed. He died in 1948, I think, well before I was born. Talk about
    ghosts in the machine.

Loads of my relatives died before I was born. How spooky is that?

  4. It's very weird. Dad put some old stuff he'd recorded on a revox onto
CDs for me. Family outings, xmas, a small me providing running
commentaries for the blind relatives. I've not been able to listen to
more than a few minutes of each, it's just very, very strange.

  9. George Mozart. He's in imdb for his films, but he was really music hall.
I've a receipt for his week's salary at the Chatham Empire in 1914. A
hundred quid. My mother has a contract that shows him being paid two hundred
quid a week a few years later.

Jeez. Impressed, but will look him up later when less pissed, as befits.
    Good money though, eh?

  19. You've obviously not been paying attention. Do keep up at the back.

Mind you, I am doing one thing that some 60 year olds do. I plan on
retiring some time next year. Sat down this week and worked out that I could
afford to do so. I'd always said I'd do that before I was 55, and this is
    well before.

    *Result*.
