    300 years old, eh?

So, where was it made? And by what process?

I reckon it a *lot* older than that, and has therefore probably been
through quite a lot more, too.

You mean they didn't even know how to raise a fault with BT, who
    provision the service? Staggered!

Funny really, 'cos it's well known that France Telecom Engineers put
other ADSL providers on a low priority list when fixing ADSL stuff and
    Wanadoo users always comes first.

Well, if you'd not treated it as such it might have been. I've a
feeling that it's owned by France Telecom, and was hoping you'd either
    confirm or refute it.

It is (and still is, IIRC) part of the France Telecom group along with
    Orange.

All soon to be renamed Orange, iirc.

Wouldn't surprise me, as my mobile provider used to be called
    "Itineris" before being renamed "Orange".

You should be fairly safe if you have followed SOP to eliminate the
possibility of the problem being at the user's end. You *did* follow
SOP before bothering those nice people at Wannadoo, didn't you?

And the source of the water that collects in the water-table that
feeds the source of the Thames. Where might that come from?

It doesn't become the Thames til Oxfordshire, whatever the sign under
    the tree might say.

Only, you talked about checking the settings but nothing about
unplugging everything else from the telephone line, including *all*
phone*, extensions, Sky box, Playstation, security alarm etc and then
plugging the ADSL connection directly into the BT master socket
(behind the face plate), with no filters. Nor of trying a different
USB modem and/or preferably router nor of trying the existing kit on
another ADSL enabled line .... or stuff like that.

OK clever clogs, where is water made then if not in the clouds? It has
to be made somewhere to replace all the stuff that falls off the edge.
