http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/aug/12/record-speeding-fine-switzerland Ouch!
Indeed, but I'm pretty sure it's old news, despite being in today's grauniad. Although google suggest I may be thinking of this one http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/8446545.stm I did particularly like this bit, though: 'A new generation of radar machines finally clocked him travelling at close to 186mph. Giving police a watertight explanation as to why he was travelling so fast, he said: "I think the speedo on the car, which is new, is faulty."'
I particularly liked the fact that the speed camera was painted to look like Emmenthal cheese. As if that's going to fool people!
That Emmenthal stuff is like the Wild Haggis you see in the highlands, when left alone in hedgerows and in the center of dual carriageways they flourish naturally.
The Guardian one is also in Blick, seems recent. http://www.blick.ch/news/schweiz/westschweiz/schwede-rast-mit-290-km-h-ueber-a12-152850
Talking of which (well not actually), has britain got a reciprocal speeding fine arrangement with benelux and germany yet ?
Because I know that there are people out there who think that its worth spending a couple of thousand squids to fine you a couple of hundreds - because it's "right" because for them, rules is rules
