    Somewhere at home I've got a few videos of French mountain guides
    skiing off of the classic north face routes in the Alps. The bit that
    makes you stop and think is that by the time I saw the videos most of
    them were dead. They didn't use parachutes.

    <shrugs> Didn't float my boat, seemed like a simple way of trashing a
    pair of skis to me. Mind you, KiteWings really do float my boat, so I
    suppose there's really no logic in it all.

    I've never quite understood how what appears to be an animated crash
    helmet on skis in an eye-wateringly wide snowplough can actually go
    faster than an adult in a schuss.
