Have a look at this and see what you reckon in terms of getting it
    fixed, please:

Waiting for a local-ish 'chips away' kind of outfit to get back to me,
but also kind of wondering if it's probably best sending off to you to
    work your magic.

    Cheers,

  2. Wasn't that bike immaculate a few weeks ago?
It's going to be a bastard to match that slightly faded orange
    colour....

It was immaculate until I had an 'incident' at a petrol station on
    Saturday.

The faded orange colour is caused by the flash of my camera in an unlit
    garage.

    Jesus. That's a powerful flash.

  5. I'm not convinced - nearly all red paint changes colour over time.
Take a look at this and you'll see that the front fairing and side
fairing appear to be different colours already. If you can't see it,
my colour blindness might be helping me out (ridiculous as it sounds).

I can see it, but it's only highlighted by the camera flash.

In daylight you can't see any difference at all.

I doubt that chips away would manage to do much with the cracked fibreglass
as their forte is *paint* chips and quite (very) small paint repairs at
that, not fibreglass repairs as they usually require priming, stoppering
(for pinholes) and then painting. At least.

That panel is going to need slight repairs at 4 different locations and to
make it look mint again, the whole panel will need painting and re-decalling
before clear lacquering to keep everything from fading (UV protection in the
    lacquer thanoze).

I've no idea what the cost of the decals are, but they're not the kind that
could be masked because they show the underlying paint in too many areas, so
the orginals will have to come off before any painting is started. IF you
    want it mint that is.

If you're happy with a simple repair that makes the bike look "ok", then
maybe chips away can do it, but I'll speak to the boychic about a price
tomorrow (I won't see him until then) and get back to you.

Indeed they do. They fade to a lovely shade of shite pink and eventually to
an even shiter shade of pale.

Clear lacquering helps stop this in a major way because of the inclusion of
UV blockers. Sort of a sun screen for vehicles.
