But how many of them can sting?

Err, TBH I didn't even know it referred to a person.

S'wot I thought. Certainly not the bit about being nearly correct by
chance, which I was picking up on.
Ahh, well, if you'd care to expound on this, we'd all love to be
    educated.

WTF have you been reading then? Cos the rest of this thread seems to
be in complete agreement that they can, and do, sting.

Better than watching her in Terminator. There's something feels a
little wrong fantasising about a Terminator.

Good point. And there's always been at least one woman whose wanted

Joss Whedon seems to do that. Comes up with something brilliant then
alienates anyone who can make it for him.

His latest "Dollhouse" is pretty good. Hopefully that'll run for more
    than one season.

There were 720p rips on eztv as well, but I can never be arsed to
download over a gig when 350mb looks just as good.

I think the telling comment on the first link is

"I wish everyone who watched ‘The Office’ and ‘30 Rock’ and ‘Heroes’
were watching on television, on their local NBC station and measured
by Nielsen,” said Mitch Metcalf, head of scheduling at NBC. “But
that’s just not the way it is anymore."

They think noone's watching them, when they are.

I do. I watch this stuff on a decent 1080p LCD tele coming from a Mac
Mini that is punting it out over HDMI. Just to my eye, there isn't
enough difference in the up-scaled non-720p "hd" and the 720p stuff to
make the additional download time and disc-space consumption worth it.

I'd suggest having a word with an optician.

I used to pooh-pooh HD but since I got this new PC and hooked it up to a
1080p telly the difference is clearly palpable. The only thing I don't
bother downloading in HD despite it being available is South Park.

Yeah, downloaded that a while back after I got the new PC and went
through a phase of downloading anything with HD in the description to
    see how it looked.

Bought that on BR around the same time, to test out the player in the
PC. Haven't actually watched it past the opening scene with the tapir
gonads yet though - V's vetoed it several times (she knows nothing).

Oh, it's nothing to do with the gonads, she just has absolutely no taste
whatsoever in films, books or music.

I'm not decrying HD at all. The rips I'm talking about are HDTV
captures that have been compressed down to about 350mb usually using
divx/xvid/H264 avi. Bear is on about the same captures being less
compressed and punted out as 1Gb+ MKV files. I'm saying that to me
the difference between the two is not enough to warrant the extra
download time (even on my 10Mbit connection). I think they're both
likely to actually be 720p, just the ones I get are compressed more.

Full 1080p HD movies from Bluray/PPV on the other hand, yes, I'm more
than happy to watch and prefer over normal DVD.

IMHO the difference between the males and females has been the only truly
