I went shopping for a(nother) new Buff today, but Powerhouse
Motorcycles in Ashford didn't have any, instead they pointed me in the
direction of "Cold Killers" by Knox. Having faith in the Knox brand I
thought I'd give it a go.

While I haven't been out in it it feels very warm. Properly
windproof, water repellent and contoured to fit the face as well as
having a mesh breather panel in it.

It looks like a piece of quality kit cost me £9.99 (Although the Knox
website states £12.99) for a Cold Killers Mini Tube (Large).

If this is any good then I may well invest in their Cold Killers
Gloves to wear under my normal gloves throughout winter.

I've got some of those and they are very comfy, as well as doing what
    they are meant to.

  3. These work quite well. As do the Gericke ones with Goretex's
    "Windstopper" membrane in them.

So you want to Ashford today and didn't even check if the kettle was on
    here?

While it sounds very nice, half the point of a Buff is the fact it's
not just a neck warmer. I wear mine as a beanie more.

Then just invite yourself the next time, OK? I'd tell you if it was
    inconvenient...

I've used the Cold Killers neck tube and their polo necked shirt for the
last 3 years and they've been great, but the inner gloves require a size
bigger outer gloves to be effective and they feel "wrong". I also have their
socks, but the cuffs were so tight (and on my sparrow legs too) they made my
feet cold before I even got outside, so they've sat in the cupboard for
    ages.

Reading "Bike" this week, I see they rate the "Polar Buff" highest in a
comparison of a fairly big selection of neck tubes and the Cold Killer (and
their ilk) come somewhere close to scratching the bottom of the barrel. I
don't fully understand how they can be down the list like they say, but what
the **** do I know, I only ride year round like you and a few others.

I'm going to get 2 Polar Buffs tonight though, (on th'interwebby thing) just
to see if the mag actually speaks the truth or speaks with forked tongue.

I bought the Cold Killers balaclava today, having survived this far
with just a buff. Having a round-necked jacket meant I was really
feeling the cold, and felt I should give something else a try.
Fan-flipping-tastic it is... not even a hint of the wind getting past
    it. Well worth the £15...

I've got one of those too. It absolutely rocks when the weather is
really cold, but in anything resembling sunny weather you cook like a
christmas turkey, which is why I always carry a buff or suchlike if the
    weather looks changeable.

*Those* invites are handed out with a bit more finesse, old chap.

Oh, and she's not my wife. Let's just say that there are a few
unresolved issues before that can happen.

No, that has an easy answer anyway, plus the two- and four-wheeled toys not
a problem (she likes going pillion on the bikes, and she likes the cars).

It's related to alcohol intake, to put it charitably. I'm trying to avoid
finding myself in a similar situation as a certain Mr Hewitt of this
    parish.

But I'm a mard-arse when it comes to wind down my neck, but given what you
