Any good? 14.90 euros a month seems ok for unbundled 20M adsl?

They don't have a very good reputation for Mac users. Free are more
expensive (29,90¤), but the dog's bits if you have a Mac.

It is good. I've got a friend with Neuf Telecom and he's got a package
that includes free phone to 70 odd countries, music and TV via ADSL
(for €29,99 IIRC). He's never had any issues with the support.

Careful though, I checked the neuf.fr site and the €14,90 is for a
"zone dégroupée" which is where you have no France Telecom line.
Otherwise it's €19,90 (and you pay for the FT line).

I prefer free.fr which is at €29,99 with the same options, but it's
more techy friendly. BD can vouch for it too.

Yes and it shouldn't be a problem to pay using a UK CC. I don't know
what the prices are like compared to the UK though.

Heh, you wait and see. free.fr is offering fibre connections atm. I'm
waiting to see if I can get it at home. 100Mb Download, 50Mb upload
    speeds.

It's the speeds off their network that matters really. And contention
    ratios.

Ta for that. We're definitely in an unbundled area, not having to go
with two suppliers is a bonus. Don't need fixed line.

Their servers are awfully slow, even from their own network.

The fixed line is very useful in case of network trouble, if only as an
exhibit to convince the call center droid that no tree has fallen on the
    wires.

Good point, but I'm on a pikey budget at the moment. There's no minimum
contract with neuf so in theory at least I can ditch it pdq if it all
    goes titsup.

Ok actually I'm confused. If we do go for the unbundled 14.90/mo option,
can we still make/receive phone calls on the neuf line, without an FT
    contract?

We don't need a deal with unlimited calls etc.

    TIA

Yes, but only IP-based ones, at least with Free. In other words, you
can't connect a phone set to the wall socket and expect it to work, the
only operational phone connection in one the "box" (ie, modem/router).
So if you have IP connectivity problems, you've got no phone, and
calling the hotline via cell phone is expensive.

OTOH, Neuf is also a telecom provider, so their setup can be different
(but at that price, I expect them to cut costs and so cut the standard
    "voice" link).
    Quite useful though :)

Too right. We call the UK, the US, Israel and South Africa almost every
day. I shudder to think what the bill would be like if we didn't have
    la Freebox.

Blimey yes. The amount of calls I make to the UK and Spain for starters
has paid for itself. I also use it for work, when I call the US quite
    often. It's bloody excellent.

Hmmmm. Looking at their site, they call the base package "Internet +
    Téléphone en présélection"

And then they list the charges here:
    http://offres.neuf.fr/adsl/ads-tari...options/adsl-tarifs-appels-telephoniques.html
Where they say présélection means "Téléphones branchés sur la prise murale"

So it looks like you can use an ordinary 'phone in the wall.

He says, hopefully. They don't list 0800 numbers thobbut.
