I've not been in a conference call at all today, and instead have been
working sat in my living room, with the TV on just for some background
noise.

It's fucking great.

How can you have a call (or a meeting) that lasts for a set amount of
time? Surely, you discuss the things that need to be discussed and
then you stop. The amount of time it takes will be "some".

 

it's meeting, with people in 6 locations - we stick to the fucking
agenda, or no-one gets to go home.

 

Same here, with the exception of a leisurely lunch with kenyon [1]
earlier at a bizarre pub that wasn't sure whether it was a pub, a
restaurant, a butchers or a fishmongers. Fucking lush steak though.

But surely the agenda just means you do:

1. Discuss "blah" as required.
2. Discuss next "blah" as required.
3. End of meeting.

and not:

1. Discuss "blah" from 3pm-4pm
2. Discuss next "blah" 4pm-5pm
3. Keep discussing other "blahs" until 6pm.
4. End of meeting.

moment. We had to "dress up" for the occasion;
I managed to find a t-shirt that had been
ironed.

 

nope - it's definitely the latter of your examples - 10 subject slots
of 15 or 30 minutes; it's only overrunning by 10 minutes[1] at this
stage, which is fair-to-middling going.

[1] there are 4 frenchmen involved, but also 3 germans and a swiss, so
it kind of balances out.

if I was physically located next to some of the people in this
meeting, I've had nutted them by now.

 

It's a regular management meeting - I'm at my desk with a headset on -
everyone else is in Paris/Cologne/Frankfurt/Zurich etc. Very little of
the meeting is directly relevant to me, as this week we're
concentrating[1] on german/swiss issues.

[1] obviously in my case, not concentrating "a lot".

 

On my desk, yes[1]. The other two are in my pocket. Fnar.
