Working where I do, gaffa tape is never in short supply. I have access
to two pallet loads of either silver or black atm.

  7. That's what I use, only it's a Glen rather than a Dimplex. (Donated by a
neighbour who was moving back to the USA and didn't have much use for a 230v
heater!) The thermostat is turned right down to minimum, and it's just
enough to stop the (detached) garage dropping below freezing, without
costing me a fortune in electricity. I've carried out the odd spot check,
and it seems that it rarely needs to cut in, and then only for a limited
    period.

I seem to have quite a bit too. The silver is my favourite.

Silver is the *proper* colour for gaffa tape. Black is for the
    wannabes.
