Did they release that dog deliberately?

I would have ... when I was 14. By cracky, me and the lads would have
loved to have had a go at that when we was unbreakable kids. We used
to do stuff along the cliff patch, down to the beach and on the
colliery waste heaps that resembled some of those jumps - but not with
dogs, crowds or telegraph poles in the way - just sheer drops to stony
    beaches, that sort of thing.
I just wish he'd tilted his camera up, just a bit more. Then I
wouldn't have been sitting straining my neck muscles trying to see just
a little bit further, so see what was coming up. Fantastic, though.
All downhill too - little pedalling, all balance and technique. I'd
have had brake fires by halfway, though.

Made me applaud at the end of the video.
During qualification, yes. At the final with the quali survivors they
    release a full fledged llama.

Yay! Slag heaps! They were such fun as a kid. Forbidden but fun. How far
can you get down the face into the slidy bit vertically before landing on
    your arse.

Forbidden for a reason. No matter how much fun we were having, and the
closed colliery site up the road was our playground for years, we were
always careful not to stray into the Forbidden Zones. We even put up
markers that we never passed, even (especially) in the snow. Inside
the FZs there were open shafts, exposed cellars, thin coverings over
deep holes, cracks that never snowed over, where foul-smelling gases
leaked out and left yellow sulphurous traces on the surrounding ground,
bits of sharp steel sticking up, that sort of thing.

One of the kids came off his bike in spectacular style one day - right
over the bars, on a flattish bit of gorund. We went back and picked
him up, then found he'd wound around the bars because the front tyre
had gone through the crust. It took three of us (treading gingerly) to
yank it out again and by then the tyre had gone at the bottom - just
burned or rotted away. We marked it with a good margin and went home
with him so his Mum didn't skin him.

We had some great times on the slag heap, though - we found some old
strip light diffusers in the Winter and used them as very narrow
sledges - they went for miles, being so light and slippery, but were
unstable as hell. A couple of us bright sparks strapped one to each
foot and went skiing - that was a bad mistake, I've still got the scars
    on my forehead.

We had brick works slag. None of those hole in the ground things or spiky
stuff. A few kids had to be dug out by the fire brigade I believe, or
this may have been a myth perpetuated by mothers we'll never know.

Trays made from that compressed wood sto-- re-homed from the school
    canteen were apparently quite nippy.
