    Today I took delivery of a freebie SOC, a 1989 Fuckedall Belmont[1][2].
So, my suspended two# is now back in the hands of yourself, the KOTL, if
you'd be so kind as to accept it.

[1] Astra with a boot, not that I can access the boot from the outside
    cos the lock is fucked.
[2] There's got to be a Del Monte/Belmont joke in there somewhere, but I
    can't think of it.

I used to drive one of these in South Africa (they just call it an Astra
there, and what we call an Astra they call a Cadet).
The one I had only came with a piddly little 1.6 engine but to give it its
credit it hauled my fat arse all over South Africa at speeds of up to 200kmh
(indicated), once I got the hang of how it handled I discovered that it
would barrel around corners like nobodies' business, with the tyre pressures
set just right[1] the handling was instantaneous enough for pothole dodging
at 180kmh, and it'd sit on the N1 between Pretoria and Cape Town at 170kmh
for hour after hour after hour after hour without ever once complaining...
if I had any serious complaint about its performance it was the fact that it
didn't have enough grunt to accelerate up to appropriate speeds quickly
enough to keep me happy. So all in all whilst not a WunderAuto they're not
bad SOCs really, particularly not if they're free (as mine was natch).

[1] Not sure why this should be but that particular model seemed to be more
sensitive to tyre pressure settings than just about any car I've ever
    driven, including sports cars[2]
[2] Though that might have been down to the utterly shit state of many South
    African roads.

In the USA it's called a Pontiac Le Mans. It makes it sound a darn
site grander than it actually is.

  4. It'll remain suspended, for re-issue at such time as you return to the
fold. That being said, I've got my test coming up soon, and if (big
fucking if) I pass it I can't see me not getting a runabout of some
    sort.
