yes but the three years counts from the date of the offence though the following page only gives details of when they can be removed from the licence. http://www.dvla.gov.uk/drivers/endorsem.htm#1. I think that they 'expire' after 3 years but can't be taken off til after 4 from the date of offence, unless you're DQ'd or done for dangerous driving, where it's 4 years from the conviction date. Or something Dave
to quote from the page below, our offences are counted for topping up for three years and must be left on the licence for four. Endorsement Guide Disqualifications, convictions and acceptance of fixed penalties payments in respect of driving offences are notified to DVLA by the courts. The details are entered on to the driver's record and the licence. In addition to paying a fine/fixed penalty the drivers licence will be endorsed with a penalty ranging from 3-11 points or a period of disqualification will be imposed, depending on the seriousness of the offence. Any driver who incurs 12 or more penalty points within a 3-year period is liable to be disqualified under the "totting -up" system. Information on a driver's entitlement and endorsements are sent to courts and police on request. Endorsements must remain on a licence for 11 years from date of conviction if the offence is : drinking/drugs and driving (shown on the licence as DR10, DR20, DR30 and DR80). causing death by careless driving whilst under the influence of drink/drugs (shown on the licence as CD40,CD50 and CD60). causing death by careless driving, then failing to provide a specimen for analysis (shown on the licence as CD70). or 4 years from date of conviction if the offence is as listed below : reckless/dangerous driving (shown on the licence as DD40,DD60 and DD80), offences resulting in disqualification. disqualified from holding a full licence until a driving test has been passed. or 4 years from the date of offence in all other cases. -- Adie (replace spam with nickname to reply) UKRM FAQ: http://www.ukrm.net/faq/ keeper of the ukrm faq for my sins Triumph 955iSS (going..) / ZX9R E1 / GSF1200 bandit (for sale) / CG125 MRO#11 BOTAFOF#7 BOTAFOT#130 DIAABTCOD#17 MIB#24 YTC#16 BOB#15 ex-UKRMMA#22 BOMB#11
<snip> Yeah, I already read the link. Note the following passages: (It doesn't specify here when the 3-year period starts) Which is not talking about how long they remain valid for totting-up purposes. I _know_ from much past experience that it was always date of conviction that counted in this case. -- _______ ..'_/_|_\_'. I would have thought that for both it depends on the type of offence as to which date counts as the start. for serious cases, as stated in the original link, its the date of conviction. for lesser its the offence date. -- Adie (replace spam with nickname to reply) UKRM FAQ: http://www.ukrm.net/faq/ keeper of the ukrm faq for my sins Triumph 955iSS (going..) / ZX9R E1 / GSF1200 bandit (for sale) / CG125 MRO#11 BOTAFOF#7 BOTAFOT#130 DIAABTCOD#17 MIB#24 YTC#16 BOB#15 ex-UKRMMA#22 BOMB#11
No, I think you're just wanting to believe that. Let's examine the statement again: So it's clearly talking about the date on which the points are "incurred" which can surely only be the date of conviction. -- _______ ..'_/_|_\_'. The maximum they're allowed to with regard to rehabilitation of offenders. Anything non-custodial is declarable for 5 years, anything with a custodial sentence under 18 months for 7 years and anything longer than that for 10 years.
I had a (minor) offence recorded on my licence a while back. For some reason there was a considerable delay between the offence and conviction. The countdown for removal from the licence started from the date of conviction, which is when the offence was recorded and endorsed on my licence - there were two dates actually written on the licence - offence and conviction. They took the latter, natch.
The picture on the card? Aye - must be. Those pictures need special handling. You can't just print them using any old equipment y'know. Printers capable of handling ginga properly are quite expensive. As is the HazMat shielding. And the psycotherapy for the operators. Phil.
I think you're talking shite, unfortunately. Still, you'll find out for sure when you try and get the points taken off.
I know they don't come off for four years. the likelihood is that they'll stay there until I next move house or change my name. neither of which i'm planning to do in the near future. -- Adie (replace spam with nickname to reply) UKRM FAQ: http://www.ukrm.net/faq/ keeper of the ukrm faq for my sins Triumph 955iSS (going..) / ZX9R E1 / GSF1200 bandit (for sale) / CG125 MRO#11 BOTAFOF#7 BOTAFOT#130 DIAABTCOD#17 MIB#24 YTC#16 BOB#15 ex-UKRMMA#22 BOMB#11
