My news server has been telling me all morning that it can't talk to
    news.individual.net:

warning: news.individual.net: cannot resolve host name: No address
    associated with hostname

.... but I see plenty of people are managing to post using it.

Doesn't worry me, because my server has plenty of other servers to talk
to, but has anybody else noticed any issues? I suspect it's a problem
    with my ISP's DNS.

You are probable right. In the mean time, set your DNS servers to use
opendns (free) if you are able to.

I've just remembered that I can get in to my router from here, so I can
ask the router to look up the address, which it'll do using my ISP's
DNS... which gives me back a valid address, so I guess that's not the
    problem.

I suspect something's been cached somewhere.
Hmmm... I've looked at using OpenDNS before, and decided that I didn't
    like the sound of it.
