Tell me about your bike GPZ.
    Is it any good?
The GPZ500 is on my list of potential purchases now that I have passed my
    test.
    TIA
    Iain.

    model but only had
I passed my test back in December and have had no problems with it. It's a
99 model with 3500 miles on the clock. As a sports tourer it is quick enough
to give you a grin but you might be looking for something else in 12 months
if you lean towards the more sporty bikes. I'd recommend anyone to get one
    as their first big bike.

    Cheers.
I realy want a Fazer 600 but may not be able to afford one.
I want to keep the bike for a long while so don't want to get one I will
    outgrow quickly.
I have no interest in GSXRs ZXRs and such like.

The power band kicks in at 7000rpm and is quite linear but enough to push
you into your seat. Your best bet is to test drive one. I'll be keeping mine
for at least 2 years. The good news is that they are cheap.

Obviously never had a go on one then....

    I said the same thing - then I had a test ride on a GSX-R600. [1]

Traded my bike in at the end of the test ride.

I had a GPZ500S (1998 model) soon after passing my test and kept it
for 2 years. It's a great little bike. Fast enough (123 mph) for me,
forgiving to ride (yes, you can brake on a bend, it won't mind), nice
handling and easy on fuel. I wasn't that good on it, but I always felt
safe. Owen used to throw it around the road, he loved it but it was
too small for him. When a group we know went to the Nurburgring, the
winner (of this group) was on a GPZ500 as he could keep it nailed to
the stop the whole way round. :)
