the trews. What length are the legs in the 'king Shelltex pants? Other HG
stuff seems to think everyone with a yard or more of waistline has legs
    like Verdigris.

How have they been in the warm weather? Used them in rain?

I fancy a new pair of all weather fabric trousers to go with my HG Cruise
jacket and they have a 20% off promo at the weekend.

Talking of fucked up sizing, I had to buy a new wetsuit yesterday, & I
    needed a large. WTF?

They've probably increased the size of XL to cater for an ever more
    bloated population.

The legs of my king troos are made to suit Verdegris.

I've got my measuring stick out, and the inside leg of mine (in size
    marquee) are 32.5".

Bearing in mind my trousers are 28" and I have to tuck the bottoms up to
stop them dragging, I reckon I could happily have HG trousers a full 5"
shorter. Still, it does mean that I've got troos with the ever-so-rare
HIPROTEC shin guards in case I happen across a football match.

HG pointed out that they were considering doing the kit in different
lengths, but as of now, they don't as yet. The trousers do zip up snugly
at the bottom, so whilst they look like comedy pantaloons, they don't
    slip over my boots.
Warm. The have the solar reflective coldblack treatment, but quite how
much good it does I'm not sure. They have vents on the legs that can be
unzipped, but again, not entirely sure how much difference they make.

If you ask me again in September when I get back from Italy I should be
able to tell you for sure...
Oddly, not really. I've been out in damp weather but nothing totally
monsoony. Somehow I've managed to leave them at home when it's been
really foul and anded up with soaked jeans.
TBH, I really like the kit and think it's pretty good VFM. Clearly it
would be even better if it fitted my shape but unless I skin Brownz and
wear his pelt I'm unlikely to get something to fit me particularly well.

    Despite being just 5'8" tall, I have a 31" inside leg. I'd be 6' if I had a neck!
They have some others in a variable leg length.

    Cheaper, too.
My circuit of France begins on 31st Aug
That happened to me in the Belgian Ardennes last year and CH the year before.
I've got fed up of faffing about with an oversuit so will do the goretex/
shelltex thing with wicking layers underneath this year.
    I'm not that broad, yet.

I'm more than comfy in XXL when stood up, but a leaning forward riding
position causes everything to move about and the trousers don't give
(the more expensive ones might), so I needed to go up to an XXXL, which
is something to be wary of.

Whilst the Crafty have long and short in some sizes, they don't do XXXL
    short :-(

I have the HG all weather trews [1], and, not having the benefit of
intimate knowledge of Verdigris' inside leg, the pants are plenty long
enough to cover my lanky frame. This may mean they'll be a tad long
    for you.

    Does this help ?

    Paul.

[1] the ones with the braces and velour bottom cushion ...

Verdigris rode (perhaps still rides) a Triumph Tiger. If you viewed him
stood by the bike from very far away you would've sworn it was a normal
sized youth about to take a CBT on a dinky trail bike.
    it reinforces my hypothesis

He was on a Zed Thou last time I saw him (admittedly years ago)
Ah. I can flat foot my Tiger, (and could on my CCM)
    hmm :)

He kept the Tig when he bought the Thou initially. Dunno what he's got
    these days though, if any.
I could flat foot mine too (as long as my other foot was on the seat).

Needs a bit of work, but I'd like to get as close to Chris Broad as
    possible.

  13. Neoprene shrinks.*

    Fraser

*Well my wetsuit certainly has. I think it is close proximity to pizza
and booze that makes it shrink.
