You're right, it doesn't seem to go round corners and also seems to try and
kill it's owner by forcing them into rather interesting overtakes :)

At least it looked interesting from where I was.

It was fucking terrifying from where I was hanging on. It was one of
those "this'll be fine unless oh bugger" moments.

Of course rather than calm me down it sped me up and some of the
remainder of the trip was somewhat brisk. Except for the corners,
    obviously.

You can run but you can't hide.

Not far from Avebury, I got the opportunity to overtake a couple of cars
up a hill. It was one of those overtakes that was fine as long as
nothing came over the crest at precisely the wrong time.

So at precisely the wrong time a Range Rover appeared with the loud
pedal buried in the carpet and showed no indication that she was going
to do anything other than keep going with the pedal still buried.

Luckily I had Harley power and squeezed through the gap.

My pants are in the washing machine

From the idle spectators point of view it went kind of :

"Hmm, he's going to overtake isn't he - interesting place to do it" which
was followed by you pulling out - then you accelerated and exactly as you
said, at preciously the wrong moment (when you were parallel with the
vehicle you were overtaking) over the hill came the Range Rover.

I didn't realise Harley's could fit in such small gaps, though in fairness
the car behind did give you a little assistance ;-) Also, if it's any
consolation you had squeezed in just before the start of the solid white
line so a perfectly valid overtake...

BTW, my excuse for not doing something similar was mainly down to noticing I
appeared to have no petrol (though I think the gauge was lying).

Once I filled up (to discover I had at LEAST a litre left in the tank) I did
a leisurely, and very enjoyable, ride home down the B4192 then through
Newbury and out on the B4009[1] from Newbury to Streatley and a dash up the
    417 back to Didcot.

It was a lovely evening I must say. Didn't see the giant moon though.

[1] This road has always been a 'nemisis' for me - but I'm starting to enjoy
it now, except for the one decreasing radius left hander that is _always_
    covered in gravel.

Sorry about that, I decided to wait until everyone had left before
    doing the naked stone dance.

Oh, you mean *that* giant moon. I saw it later on. It was quite funky,
but not half as impressive as those two big guns.

You live in Deadcat. Unlucky - Was it a personal choice or a work thing ?

    I work in Milton Park.

Parents moved to Deadcat about ten years, which was when I left home as I
    swore I'd never live there.

Personal choice actually. Okay so there's a crappy power station, but
because of that the houses are more affordable.
Near to lots of things, I have no need to go into 'Old didcot' (live on the
Ladygrove) and just take the car to Sainsburys/Tesco.

Also well placed for lots of things.
Well I can understand not wanting to live with your parents, but personally
I have no problems with Didcot.

OKay Iw ouldn't want to live there forever obviously, but as a first home
    etc it's fine.

Aye, fair point - its a lot nicer (with all the center regeneration etc)
than it was when the parents moved there.

I'd love to use the new Sainsburys there, but can't get the car into the car
park due to the fekin mountainous speed humps they have.

Tried once and ruined the valence under the front bumper.

(And no - its standard, not a chavmobile or owt like that)

In-line twins you see. I wouldn't have made it on the Beemer as the pots
    stick out
I really don't think there would be room for both of us
