Paging Hog

Did you see the recent BBC4 documentary on Dounreay? I thought it
pretty good - I'm sure as an insider you'd find it interesting.

It appears to still be on iPlayer for a while. I've got it on my
machine if you'd like me to burn it to DVD.

 

I didn't cheers, downloading it now. It seems to feature DFR (the
Golfball) being constructed. Interesting project that happened long
before I worked there. Liquid (at working temperature) Potassium Sodium
alloy coolant through some 6km of pipework.

They didn't give much thought to how they would decommission DFR in the
design phase however and it has been a "challenge" for various
engineering partners. As bad as; it is due to finish a year after the
much later and much bigger PFR project in 2025
