I'm looking for something the will go under the unit plinths to seal it
against the wooden floor, preventing dust and the like from getting
    under the units.

    I found some stuff:-
    http://www.kitchen-storage.co.uk/product2_912-1-71-1820_Plinth-Sealing-Strips,-18-19-mm-Panels.htm

but I'm not keen on the prospect of a plastic strip running the whole
length of the units, spoiling the wood on wood action (fnarr). The
floor's not 100% level so there are varying gaps against the plinth of
    1-3mm.

What about some of those soft foam seals that are sometimes put around
doors to keep drafts out? They look quite thick, although I suppose
they're very squishy in order to fit on the inside of a door jam.

  2. They are squishy, but if the kitchen is already installed, they'll be a
twat to get underneath the units. They'll also look a bit gash imho.

I guess you could use some quarter round edging, stained the right
colour to match the floor and/or units. Might also look gash, but cheap
    enough to try out first.

If you can find a strip that matches the colour of the plinth it might
not be so noticeable. Depends on how different the floor colour is....
    Scribe the plinths?

Magnet used[1] to do a wood coloured version that did was only 3mm high on
    the visible side.

The plinth actually clips onto the legs of the units, so they're
    easy(ish) to remove. So whilst that's a good idea otherwise, I wouldn't
want to use it in this case.

B&Q do a dark brown version, but it's too dark.

I can remove the plinth OK, so could easily add such a thing, but yeah,
I think you're right on the looking gash point though.

I ran a really tiny bead of silicon sealant around the base of the
plinths. You can't see it unless you're up close, but it keeps out
water from floor cleaning and dust.

Something like felt (baize/whatever the **** it's called) like wots used on
a Snooker table or under chair legs of kitchen/bar stools, or even clear
silicone in a tube. Squirt it in, then "finger" the edge to give a clear and
    tidy seal.

The silicone won't stop the plinth from being removeable easily.

My kitchen unit plinths have that kind of seal on them, but they are a
brownish colour so one doesnt really notice them
