  1. Got a letter. In German. Appears to be about a car I rented last
month. There's a very fetching photo of a very handsome fellow, taken
from the middle of the A2, showing that fellow holding a phone to his
    ear [2].

Need someone to translate it, please.

[0] Or those who read Kraut.
[1] It may be me, it may not be.
[2] If making a phone call is an offence, is holding the phone to
one's ear while not a call also an offence?

Tsk, not in control of the vehicle.

I'm not sure about others, but I have lost count of the amount of times I
have had near misses with people who have 1 hand against ear trying to
hide a phone while not concentrating on what is around them.

If thre is any chance it was you in the photo, I'd keep quiet.

  6. If one must have both hands on the steering wheel at all time, then we
must make car stereos illegal. And sandwiches. And, I suppose,
    manual gearboxes.

Sandwiches and drinks taken when in he car (and it doesn't even have to be
fucking moving) have already resulted in prosecutions and convictions. It'll
    be having a fag next.
Wait until thought control is available.

Maybe it was a dictating machine or an MP3 player or an ear hair trimmer?

    I'm sure he was.
That's never once happened to me. Or, if it has, it was so
inconsequential that I barely registered it. Do you seriously try to
    keep count of such things?

I've only had a couple that I can recall & they were identical - people
overtaking me on the motorway then pulling in front of me & hitting the
brakes as they answered the phone.

The vast majority of my near misses happen on roundabouts, as I have a
policy of not giving way to people who don't indicate.
