    Hiya Loz.

I've got an Akito based query, and while I know it's not your product,
I'm wondering if you will have any idea as to the answer to this
    question.

My (Blue/Black) Akito Python II died a month ago during a road
polishing, so I bought a replacement via mail order which arrived
today. I put it on, but noticed that it felt different.

It says Python II on it like my last one (This one is just black) but
it feels a lot lighter than the previous jacket and upon closer
inspection the pockets no longer have a velcro top underneath the
poppers, and there is no rear zip pocket. In addition to it feeling
lighter, there was no armour for the spine and there's no zip pocket
in the thermal lining where there was previously and I think that the
velcro areas on the sleaves are also smaller.

I've taken the back armour out of my old jacket and fitted into the
new one (the rest of the armour is there as normal), but this jacket
just feels lower quality than the last one, which had a firm feel to
it - this one just feels a bit flimsy.

Do you know if there are a variety of different breeds of the Python 2
(and were the old breeds higher quality) so I can see if I can source
    the previous model?

I'm sorry squire, I really don't have a clue. I'll ask one of my
colleagues when I'm back at work and get back to you.

    Ta very much.

It's not that the first Python 2 was the best thing in the world ever,
but this new one just feels wrong. It's the same size too.

    Details from tag:

    Name: PYTHON II JKT
    Size: XXXL
    Colour: Black
    Article Number: 182436
    Colour Code: 00

    ...If that helps.

Oh, and it appears that my old Python 2 had 3M style reflective tubing
on it, whereas this model features some naff white almost-reflective
    tubing instead.

I noticed these today in the local dealers. The reason I noticed them
is there's a promotion on now, free python trousers with every Python
    II jacket.

I only looked quickly as I was only killing time while waiting for a
lift but I think they had back 'armour' fitted.

I guess you would recommend them as this is your second? Are they
    *really* waterproof?

It looks like it's an Akito promotion as J&S have the same offer for
£99 which seems a good price for a two piece suit.

I got rained on heavily lots of times but never got wet.

Well, only once, as I left one of the poppers open. They were a good
jacket, if you can find an old one (with proper reflective tubing)
then I would buy it again.
