Did you buy you ZZR1100 from Newcourt Motorcycles in Ormskirk? If so, what are they like ( the dealers)? -- Cheers! Fr Jack 96 Tiger. FRJACKUKRM AT GMAIL DOT COM skype: fr.jack (without the dot) Insomnia sucks!
Oh ****! This has tagged onto another thread of the same name... oops! The question is addressed to Lozzo. -- Cheers! Fr Jack 96 Tiger. FRJACKUKRM AT GMAIL DOT COM skype: fr.jack (without the dot) Insomnia sucks!
Fr Jack says... Yep, that's where I got it from, on xmas eve 2002. It was dirt cheap, but only because I bargained it down a huge amount before I'd even travelled up and seen it. They had a showroom filled with varying quality bikes[1]. Looking back on it, that, and the fact they were prepared to haggle almost 25% off the price without me even seeing the bike, would make me think twice about buying from them again. The ZZR was a mess when I got it and was worth about what I paid or maybe a touch less, certainly nowhere near what they originally had it up for sale for. The front brakes were so badly seized that Nigel Eaton very kindly and expertly made new pistons because the old ones were so stuck in the caliper I had to destroy them to get them out. The original exhaust threw itself apart within 2 months so I fitted the one from my old C2. If I'd paid proper prices for just these two things I'd have been well out of pocket, a replacement exhaust is 450 quid on its own. The chain and sprockets were also in a terrible state despite looking fine on the day and the chain snapped about 1000 miles later, luckily doing no damage. Both tyres were in a sorry state too, being barely above the legal limit when I set off, and verging on illegal when I got here. Before I travelled all the way from Bedford I'd asked them if the bike was roadworthy and safe to ride home, and they'd told me it was perfectly OK and a good bike. I only rode away on it because it was so cheap initially, it really wasn't fit to be on the road. After these things were sorted I managed to get a year and 18K miles from it ok, but it initially cost me a fair bit to put a few things right. Things that really should have been sorted before it was offered for sale at the original price, as it was advertised as being in very good condition. That turned out to be complete bullshit. I'd avoid them unless they give a long warranty and/or you haggle the **** out of them and take a chance. Their idea of a pre-delivery service is to make sure there is sufficient oil in the bike to be visible in the check window. On second thoughts, just avoid them altogether unless you know the bike/previous owner and he says it's a good one. From what I saw they seem to specialise in the sort of shite that no other dealer in the area wants on his showroom floor. They also used to buy unwanted trade- ins from Carnells in Liverpool, which is where my ZZR came via. [1] Varying from absolute shite to passable
Is that that ropey place I took you to on the back of the SV, nearly collecting a cage on the way out of the station?
<fx: sucks teeth> I can't say I've been in many dealer's places compared to you, but I know I didn't like the look of any bike in that place.
