Do you still have a set of Tokico 6pots lying around?
Krusty says... I dunno about that though, they might come in useful sometime. Going by what they sell for on eBay they've got to be worth 50 quid for the pair. I can't guarantee their usefulness though, as we found them difficult to bleed when fitted to Bees 9R. Both Bee and her b'friend thought they needed new bleed nipples as they became damp after a while suggestigng that the nipples them selves needed replacing. Given the distances involved and the fact that Be had been waiting long enough for me to sort it, I couldn't be arsed to faff around so I fitted some nearly new Tokico 4 pots to her bike instead. I'll throw in a new pair of bleed nipples as well for 50 quid. The 4 pots from a TL1000S are regarded as an upgrade from the 6 pots, but are more money normally and difficult to find.
Hmm. 30 quid a pop on ebay, two sets sold in the last couple of days. Are they all much of a muchness? Or, more specifically, will they fit a 7R?
ogden says... They will fit a 7R, but for some reason not known to me or anyone else the 7R and some 6R calipers have 27mm pistons in all 12 bores, and the leading pistons on the 9R calipers are 24mm where all the rest are 27mm. That's the only difference. All the offset and disc diameters are the same, as are the mounting hole spacings at 90mm. They take the same pads etc.
Odd. I've been looking at the 7R parts diagram, the leading pistons seem to be part 43048A while the other eight are 43048. I can't find out (without talking to a dealer) what the difference really is, but it suggests the 9R may not be alone in that odd setup. Either way, I think I may have some eBaying to do...
ogden says... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CALIPER-PISTON-SEAL-KIT-GSX1300R-GSXR-ZRX-ZX6-ZX9 _W0QQitemZ7996754798QQcategoryZ10534QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem That's where I found out about the 7R having slightly different calipers. I checked a few bikes in dealers I visit and found it to be correct on the ones I looked at.
